A celebration of the garden as summer begins to give way to autumn. I was drawn to the fading purple-grey heads of the agapanthus, their long strappy leaves spilling from the blue pot, and the smaller pots gathered around it. The softly layered yellow-green background brings light and warmth to the composition, while loose brushwork and visible marks give the painting an informal, lived-in quality.
